I had Apple Hydraulics re-bore and sleeve my Delco wheel cylinders for my 46 Fleetmaster, I installed rebuild kits, and new bleeder valves from Chevs of The 40's. The bleeder valves leaked fluid slightly, so I re-installed the original bleeders, they don't leak as bad but do leak. Something has happened to the bleeder valve seats? That is where they seal, the base or "seat". Do not recommend thread sealer because they don't seal that way. The fluid is coming out the hole in the bleeder past the seats. Has anyone had experience in stopping this problem? In 50 years I have never had bleeders not seal, but I have never re-bored cylinders before either, I always used new ones but wanted to stay away from Chinese stuff so opted for re-boring my Delcos. Anyone ever solve this problem before?

Possible they were sand blasted during the upgrade. If so the slightest grit in the bleeder seat can cause this.

These wheel cylinders leak just like a valve fails to seal. There is an uneven surface for sealing and the ball seat on the bleeder screw is not totally sealing off the fluid path.

Fixing it? With enough time and money you can fix anything. I'd throw them away and get replacements.

Life is too short.

People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know.
