2015 Colorado, it has the Forward Collision Alert,,,, question, is it just an alert or will it make the brakes work. What has happened so far is the RED light and alert sound have gone off and the cruise control cuts off and it starts to slow down but the brakes have never come on, probably because I stepped on the brakes right away. I do not want to let it go just to prove a point.

Interesting. I didn't know '15s had collision alert. What does the owners manual say?

Apparently no brakes are applied. It's only a warning notice. I found the video below:
