I'm replacing the headliner in my 59 El Camino and it has sheet metal strips above the doors with triangular "teeth" stamped out of them. When I stretch the headliner vinyl to the side, what holds it in place? I assumed the teeth but they will not penetrate the vinyl. I made a u shaped tool to pull the vinyl onto the teeth but it comes loose when I work on the next section. The videos I have seen show the vinyl being tucked with a putty knife type tool and magically staying in place. Is this glued on the smooth face of the strip and the extra material tucked when done just to hide it?
