My 2014 Yukon SLT with a G80 limited slip differential. The driver's side is leaking. So I tried to replace the leaking seals and bearings.

I removed both wheels, disc calipers, discs and the rotation sensors. Removed the rear cover, the differential shaft screw and shaft.

But the axles would not slide in far enough for the C-clips to come out of the side axle gear recesses. Seems they hit the center block and would not slide in far enough for the C-clips to come out of the side gears.

I finally pried the passenger axle in far enough to release its C-clip but then the axle would not slide out of its tube, it hits something solid and I did not want to force it not knowing what it was hitting.

Never got the C-clip out of the driver's side axle. I pried, hammered and cussed.

I have replaced axle seals and bearings in G80 limited slip differentials before with no problems. Axles slide in, C-clip fall out and axles slide right out.

What am I missing???
