First, Hi to every one. I have a 1968 Slickcraft Boat with a Chevy 307 engine. I bought the boat 2 weeks ago and it had not ran in 15 years. I got her up and running the following day and the motor ran super smooth and then after 15 minutes, it fell on its face and just stopped. I ran a voltage test and have to the resistor, power at the coil, and power to the points. I went as far as buying a new set of points and condenser and still have zero spark when the points open up. I went as far as installing a electronic pointless setup in the distributor and I am still having the same issue. The distributor is a Mallory Model YL Type 520 AV. I understand that this is a boat, how ever the information and or help that I need is Chevy related and that is why I am on this sight. Can any one give me some pointers or has any one had this issue before? Help Help Help. Thank you!

with the electronics you need to delete the resistor. do you have 12 volts at the coil and distributor when cranking?

70 L camino, grampa engine, g-force 5 spd, road rage suspension. Pray first before all else fails.

Mallory uses a single resistor for points, and two resistors for one of their Uni-Lite systems, the stock one from switch to coil positive, then, a MOPAR early .60 ohm resistor from coil positive to Mallory module input wire.

"Boots" Mallory used a lot of MOPAR parts in his setups, but the Uni-Lite was the best electronic system. There is also a magnetic trigger system that needs the stock single resistor, but it is a real problem prone system.

Engine to battery ground is essential, not battery to whatever to engine.

As above, check ground, good ground, engine to battery.
