my car has no vacuum assist on the shifter, and the big lever with nut and bolt on top to tighten it on trans shaft is worn and rounded by years of use an being loose. the trans shaft has a key way in it but I don't know if the lever had a gripping tooth or was the lever made to tighten and hold the key at the same time . any ideas on how to tackle this is appreciated .

thanks for the reply, think I found one at a bone yard ,they are sending it to me an we will see. I really just want to drive it some ,its been along time an since retiring took time to get it together.

thought I'd tell all about my shift arm. I had one shipped up from Texas hoping it would do the trick ,well it was as worn out as the one I had so a buddy volunteered to weld new teeth on the old one an that worked. a little weld and a lot of filing got it done .and I learned a lot about these trannys. right now all is well an I have been driving some.
