My fuel gauge stops at random points, and is not the most accurate gauge, however, I can see to the bottom of my tank, since it is a station wagon, so when it is getting low, I can visually check how much fuel is left in the tank. I never let the tank go to empty, unless there is no place to get fuel. I just assume 10 miles per gallon, and fill the tank when the car travels 100 miles or so. If it got better fuel economy, I would drive it more often on longer trips.

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

i pulled the sender wire off with the switch on and the gauge went to full. i grounded the sender wire and it went to just above 1/4 of a tank. does that mean the gauge is bad?
