How does the clean air line attach to this end of the choke heat tube? The hole in the tube is .193". Is the clean air line 3/16" tubing that just slips inside this hole?

Not sure if this helps, but give it a try. It looks like you have a piece of tube broke off in the manifold, but maybe I am not remembering things correctly.

This tube fits inside the exhaust manifold and the tube from the carb slides in the hole in the top of manifold. There are rubber lines running from the bottom tube to the carb, check the assembly manual for the complete setup, if you don’t have the assembly manual, get one.

I've attached a screen shot from the '63 Shop Manual. Between the diagram and the pic, you should have a good idea of the system's configuration.

Thank you guys. Before now, the only pictures I've seen of the tube and its hose were showing them to the REAR of the center exhaust outlets. I've seen the tube advertised but I couldn't see how it would fit. Now it makes sense. I thought the tube in the manifold might've been broken off too, but seeing it in person, it's clearly a rolled end so maybe it's not in far enough. I'll check that out. I appreciate the help!

Thanks to your guys' help here, I've got it. I tried to buy the fresh air tube online, but all three places I tried to order from charged literally twice as much for the shipping than the cost of the part! I used a piece of scrap 1/4" brake line I had here and made one up. Again, I appreciate all the help.

There's no reason fabricated parts can't be made to do the job of supplying "clean air" (the terminology in the Shop Manual) from the carb, thru the manifold, to the choke (it's a closed system). "Clean air" from the carb keeps the choke from sticking due to 'dirt'.

Because it's a closed system, there can be no exhaust gas leaks; either 'out' of the manifold, or 'into' the closed 'clean air' system.

The '63 Shop Manual Supplement describes the system better than I can.

This pic shows the tube inside the manifold. Disregard the upper manifold, that on had been modified to remove the tube for a different application.
