Got most everything off just can't get the wiring and plug separated from the bulb socket ? any tips.

I looked the the dome light in my coupe. Boy! That is a bugger isn't it? There are two tabs on either side that, if straightened would allow the socket to go forward...I think. The only other way, is to force the wires out through the socket and unsolder the button on the end. Once the buttons are removed, the wires should pull out of the socket and free up the base of the light for removal. Be careful not to loose the springs! The wires on mine are very stiff, as they have been subjected to 60 + years of summer sun light...in other words...baked!

Thank you sir, my main problem is the on/off switch being stuck on, think ill do the best i can just hanging by the wires, my wires are also brittle, Nebraska car.

My headliner had been removed. So my resolution would be to splice in fresh wires somewhere along the exposed wires from where they come from the main harness going over the door and window.

I bought a new socket at Auto Supply and robbed the wires resin disc, and spring. Used a tubing brush to clean the socket. Replaced the guts.

Side note-My neighbors asked me why my place smelled like PB Blaster.
