I have a 1985 scottdale it overheated now it runs ruf and then stalls

Welcome to the site. Have you pulled the spark plugs to check for coolant? Take off the radiator cap when it's cold. Crank it. Do air bubbles come through the radiator? Are the spark plug wires okay? We need more information to help. What caused the overheating?

How's the oil level? What kind of oil do you use? Can you take compression on it? How long did it run hot? The most common failure is head gaskets. Simple enough to replace but heads must be checked. Compression must be checked before removing the heads.
