I just received the Edelbrock 7802 "performer Link" timing chain set for my small block build (327). I notice there is one link in the chain that is black metal. Have no idea why that is. Does the chain need to be put on a certain way in respect to that link? Also are Edelbrock parts still USA made? I can't find anything on the box, instruction sheet, or any of the parts to indicate build origin.

I think you should contact Edelbrock and get the correct information from them and not second hand information from others.
Just my opinion.

Remember,I'm not always right. But I'M never WRONG !

I did put in calls to Edelbrock technical. Their machine puts you hold for awhile, then you leave your number for a call back and never get one. Doubt if it's of any real importance. I'm thinking the black link may just be something they use as a marker when they splice the chains together.

I think your speculation is correct, that the black link is where it's spliced.

Edelbrock doesn't make timing chains, they are purchased from someone in that business.
