Hello all, I'm posting this in the 55-57 stock forum as I'm trying to keep my 57 fairly original under the dash but wanted to add an aftermarket AC unit to get what I would call a vintage aftermarket look. I have an older Mark IV unit that I was going to use, but after mocking it up with the original heat outlets it's wide enough to stick out a little too far.

Does anyone have an aftermarket, under dash system that they like and could post or send photos? Just trying to get some ideas on how the Mark IV might work with the original heater or what other aftermarkets are out there. I've seen a Chevy Cool Pack from 59-60 on FB marketplace that seems a little smaller and could work and still look appropriate.

I'm trying to stay away from trashing all of the original heating system components for a complete Vintage Air or equivalent system. Not that there's anything wrong with them, I'm just not wanting to remove that much originality from the car. Thanks for the help.

Does it still count as a "barn find" when it's your barn?

Not in a 57 but I have an Old Air unit in my 1930 DeSoto. It's pretty compact and might work okay in your car. I'm pretty sure you would have more room than I do...

I have a "dealer installed" AC unit that I removed from my 66 Impala a couple years ago. (complete) Last time the car ran, it still blew cool air, and there was still gas in the system when I removed it from the car. It was mounted under the center of the dashboard and has a couple of plastic ducts that ran outward from there. Probably has the "look" you are looking for, as far as being "old", but definitely not original or correct for a 57 chevy... Either way, depending on where you are in Wisconsin, I might be close by ... I am in a SW suburb of chicago. Price is right if you think you might be able to use it. I was thinking of using it in my 55 BelAir, but that is a LONG way off. Send me a PM if you have any interest...
