Just curious what if any benefit there is to inside air vs. outside air settings on the a/c, thanks...

The outside air benefit is you get fresh air when pulling from the outside. The trade off is that when you just use the inside air, the A/C can remove the heat faster because it has already began removing heat. I guess we can also get into humidity etc.

Recirc reduces the load on the system because you are recirculating cooler/ dehumidified air. That said GM always brings in at least a small percentage of outside air in recirc to avoid sudden fogging in certain conditions.

Recirc ends up lowering the compressor out pressure so less load on the compressor and less HP to run the compressor. I'm not certain when it started but GM started using the term "MAX" for recirc which was somewhat misleading because some people believed that the system worked harder on "MAX" than normal AC mode (outside air); it was just the opposite.
