2014 Yukon,

In the process of replacing the reverse light halogen bulbs with LEDs I found both right and left tail and brake light sockets cooked and the brake light filaments broken. The tail light filaments still worked in those bulbs. Turn other tail light and turn signal sockets and bulbs were unaffected.

Any ideas why this happened, what caused it?

I see this on a number of late model vehicles. It seems the OEM's and cutting costs on everything!I've seen a lot of this with FCA products last few years especially. The sockets can't handle the electrical load with some of these lights.

This may sound surprising but I have seen so many GMs with stuck on Brake lights...
Either all 3, 2 lowers, or just upper. Usually it is the 2 lower that I notice.
That would explain the cooked sockets and burned filaments
