Hey all,
Basically joined the forum to try to solicit some help on an issue that’s been confounding me for a few week. I’ve got a 93 GMC Suburban with a 5.7 TBI. It has a really bad coolant leak that’s been pooling behind the front passenger side tire and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. I think I have it now, but I’m not sure what the name of the part is or what it’s function is. It was so bad that is was leaking continuously even with the engine off. I’ll post a couple of pictures for reference. I’m just curious what this hose is called so I can replace it and hopefully find a video on how to replace it.

Welcome to Chevytalk,

A little tough to see from the pics but is the hose leaking at the metal crimped area, or from the plastic part where it hooks up (called a "quick connect")

It's been a while since I worked on a Suburban but I'll assume yours has rear heat as most of them do; those look like the related water hoses for that setup, as a pickup doesn't have all that extra hose work for the heat.

Something you should be aware of while you're working in this area is the heater hose connection at the passenger rear of the intake manifold; these are notorious for corroding and breaking off if you even just look at it too hard. Since you'll be working on the heater hoses, you may end up having to fight the fitting on the intake as well. They are known for breaking off inside the intake, so be prepared.

That’s a great question. I can’t tell to be honest. I only posted the other picture to help identify the hose. It’s definitely only leaking at the lower end but I can’t tell if it’s in a quick connect fitting or something else.
