Well, I found some brackets to replace the ones I mistakenly threw away with the old floor pans. The fellow managed to take a few measurements before he cut them out of a car. I’m perplexed because if I mount them where he measured, there’s no chance they will grab the seat. His measurements were 2” below the top ledge, 12” from the quarter panel inner wall and 40” center to center of them and from the single picture I’ve found it looks similar to his measurements.

My thought was, the front of my backseat doesn’t hang down but maybe an inch below the ledge of the back seat floor pan. Maybe Bel Air and Impala seats are different here as well as the width? Maybe Impala seats hang down almost to the main floor pan. I wish I would’ve paid attention to where these were when I was cutting out the old pans but at this point it’s been a couple of years now. Here’s a few pictures of my dilemma, the picture of the bare floors is someone else’s but the only one I could find for reference.

You have the wrong back seat springs for 2 door Hardtops seat mounts. Factory 2 door hardtop back seat springs have a much deeper springs over the hump.
Post a picture of the bottom of you seat springs including the hump on the springs.

Your floor looks like a 61-64 floor pan ( those years have same shape floor pans). What year is yours? Impala and impala SS 2 door Hardtops have the same back seat springs and use the same spring mounting brackets and measurements. 4 doors use a different back seat springs.

Paul

Paul, my car is a 64 Bel Air. I wiggled the seat bottom around till it felt like it was at home with the floor pan. By what you say, it sounds like now I need to figure out where the Bel Air seat brackets are mounted since they won’t catch my seat in the Impala location.

Paul here a shot of the under side of the seat. Yes, it’s in pretty bad shape, but it’s on the list.

Here is an original 64 belair 2 door sedan(6 cylinder car) so to me the interior though new is original.
Can't see bottom front of the back seat

I still think your springs are wrong, still checked that spring hook is way to small -more coming

A picture of the back seat of a 63 Belair 2 door sedan that I used to own. Note how the seat touches the carpet or very close to it.

All 62 to 64 2door sedans Belair and Biscayne models, had the same back seat springs

I think you have a 4 door back seat springs -pictures of a 2 door sedan spring set will prove it
