Had my car in for steering issues, and they loosened the nut and messed with the hex bolt to try to adjust the steering. How do I set it back to center again.

Are you referring to the large hex bolt at the bottom of the steering box? Setting the steering wheel to center requires adjusting the tie rod ends, and has nothing to do with the steering box. If they messed with the large hex bolt at the bottom of the box, then I will bet that they were also messing with the adjustment screw at the top of the box. If that is the case, you need to get the factory shop manual, and learn how to rebuild the box, and set it up properly. It isn't difficult, just time consuming, and you have to pay attention to doing it exactly as described in the manual. It is also a pain to get it out of the car, but if they messed it up, a lot of damage can happen that will render that box as worthless.

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

Yes that the nut I'm talking about with the hex bolt inside it. They told me that was to tighten the steering up to make it more responsive, but it's all over the road. I'm thinking about rack and pinion. The box on there is a new borgenson I had installed

If you have not yet installed the parts necessary to achieve the required caster, your car WILL wander with that (or any integral power steering box).

Refer to your prior 'posts' and the responses.

If it is wandering, after they played with the gear box, it may be adjusted too tight, or the wheels and steering box were not in the middle when it was done. If all thst checked ok, then as mentioned the caster could be out of spec. This type of problem requires someone who knows what they are doing.

i assume your car did turn more to one side and less to the other? thats the problem i had with borgeson 600...the pitman arm have 4 big splines so it comes into right place..but thats the problem..its out of line so what i did was..take off the pitmanarm and file off the 4 big splines then you can put the arm in the right location.
