Installed a Pertronix 510 Ignition box according to wiring diagram, but the engine will not start. Remove it and it starts right up. Has anyone else experienced the same problem and how did you solve the problem? 73 Nova 350 SBC engine-Standard Points Distributor with Ignitor 1182LS module. 60,000 Pertronix Coil with Pertronix 510 Ignition Box Talked to tech from Pertronix, he said to do a voltage check @ ignition wire. I believe I have a low voltage start problem. Tried a MSD 6A Series box with the same results, no start. Most likely not enough voltage to create a spark at the coil. Will check for voltage problem next week after the holiday.

If you are using the original igntion wire you might want to check. Many of them had a resistor wire on the end to reduce the voltage or you have a white resisto block in line to reduce voltage. Try hooking up everything but run 12v from the battery instead of yusing that ignition wire and see if it runs. If it does you'll have to remove the resisitor or run a new 12v ignition wire, just make sure it's 12v on start position as well as run.
