Everyone, been a dry spell maintaining contact with the group. But Im back and doing some updates on my 65 Impala SS. Stll riding on my Edelbrock shocks with 2" lowered rear and 1" lowered front springs. Front/rear CCP sway bars. Big block, fuel Injection, 4 speed. It hugs the corners nicely with no fish-tailing on WOT. Whats the latest recomendation for shocks that are smoother yet can handle this beast. These Edelbrocks have served me well but I'm getting beat to death through my smiles when Im rolling on weekends taking on the local wanna-be's.

Look into their HQ series shocks at $185 per corner unless you got deep pockets and want to go for their coil overs instead

I found that the Edelbrock shocks lost their damping in a few years. I have the Ridetech HQ and love them.

I went with Monroe Sensa-Trac's when I installed Global West lowered front springs. Nothing high performance, but they do the job well, and are a good value.

Bilstein.

you need good shocks for a big block. They can be a touch harsh at low speed on a rough road, but they are very good once you are moving along

I had yellow bodied Bilstein's on my 67 and boy were they stiff. Great control on smooth roads, probably unmatched control actually. Unfortunately our roads aren't all that smooth, and I grew tired of the pounding, so I took them out (sold them) and went with Ridetech HQ's on the back, and Viking hybrid coilovers on the front. The tunability of either really makes them worth it. I'm happy how it turned out. Cheers.

Interesting. Went with the Edelbrocks originally due to all the blatherthe marketers and hot rod magazines expressed. They did work pretty well initially. But we're now ready for the right change. All the SS guys with the four link system probably have this issue wired for todays tech better than I did at the time.
So PN's would help.
