Hi guys,

I just got my new '47 Buick Super streetrod and it has a crate 502 chevy engine. All I got with the car was 4 pages detailing the customisations made to the car, but no details on the engine other than its a "crate 502".

I've pulled the numbers off the block (14096859) and the casting date (C313) and from what I can tell its a 502 GEN V - but I've no idea what year - 1993, 2003 or 2013?

I'm trying to get the stock specs for timing/tuning etc.

The GM Performance Catalog for 2015 says its 450hp/550lb with base at 8deg, total timing at 30deg

The GM Performance Catalog for 2006 doesnt state base, but does say 36deg total timing @3600rpm.

The current document Link up on the GM website says total timing is 32deg.

Every place I look also talks about different size gapped plugs.

Chevrolet's customer service team in the US wont talk to me because I'm in Ireland, and this is driving me mad! :mad :

I'll take a SWAG, the Gen V was introduced in 1991. The Gen VI in 1996. If Gen V production stopped when the Gen VI was introduced, I'd say your engine date code is 1993.

Nice Buick, by the way. With CA plates no less.

I really am crazy for that big, fat, beautiful redhead gal you drive.
Do you have info on the builder's name? Where was the car built? Agree you need to secure that info to maintain that gal. Mel
