Thanks for posting this ad, the price reflects the madness in prices lately. This is the 167th 1962 anniversary gold car I've recorded in my database of the 16,925 that were built.
Cheers, Carl.

I wonder if the floors still exist on that car... all those damp leaves and time.

No kiddin' Dave. What a piece of junk. I wonder if there's any frame left under that car!
And are those the original bucket seats? But the car appears to have a column shift, and it's a Super Sport. Why doesn't it have a console and floor shift? I am not that knowledgeable about '62 S.S. cars.

IN 1962 THE AUTOMATIC IMPALA SS STILL HAD THE SHIFTER ON THE COLUMN. NO FLOOR SHIFT TILL 1963.

According to 348/409 the code 891 is for gold, vinyl bucket seats in an S.S. coupe. I'm still confused by this car. Did the interior get redone in white?

Faded from weather and age gold seats look white.
The reason I know I just last week looked at gold interior ( confirmed by cowl tag) 62 Impala that has been sitting for 25 + years and the seats and door panels had a white look. I have pictures that show the door panels looking white..

There isn't a single panel on that car worth saving. Maybe a fender. Impalas aren't rare. They are just expensive as of late.

I am looking for another project, but life is way too short to embark on this one! That is why I always specify I am looking for a restoration project with "Good Bones".

Interesting that the cowl tag is stamped SPORT. Mine is stamped SS.

Of the 13 different Fisher plants that made bodies in 62, there were 9 different ways that a Super Sport was recorded on the tag, and one plant had no code whatsoever. If the code on your car is SS, then you car had to have been built at either Flint or Van Nuys.
Cheers, Carl.
