My truck is a 2wd crew cab with the 5.7.

Between 30-40mph I've got a weird vibration. Doesn't appear until I reach at least 30 mph, peaks at 35mph & begins to disappear at 40mph & is completely gone at highway speeds.

If I hold the speed at 35mph it's bad. Feels like a bad tire. Meaning that it feels like a vertical vibration. I'd accept that it was a bad tire if I didn't have a brand new set of cooper's balanced with less than 1k miles on 'em. And if th vibration didn't disappear past 40mph.

I've never encountered a speed sensitive vibration so I'm at a bit of a loss here. My only thoughts are harmonic balancer or possibly driveshaft carrier bearing.

Any input/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Have you rotated the tires front to back to confirm it’s not tires?

No sir I haven't done anything with the tires yet. I'm assuming, perhaps foolishly, that it isn't the tires. Because they're basically brand new & the vibration is only there between 30-40mph. I would think if it were tires it would be there at higher speeds also, but it isn't. It truly does disappear at speeds over 40mph.

If no one else has any other pointers/tips I'll definitely rotate the tires from front to back.

I was considering getting all 4 tires off the ground & running the truck to see if the vibration was there still with no weight on the tires.

I worked on equipment all my life and I used to see other guys replace a part and then a new, different problem would emerge and I would watch them replace part after part trying to fix the new problem when it was the original part they had put on that caused it. Don't assume that brand new tires are perfect. Could also be that the balancing weights might have come off of one tire or the tires are flawed. Go for the most obvious first before you start throwing money at a problem that might not exist.

Well I reckon I'll swap the tires around & see where I'm at after that. Honestly I hope it is a tire issue. That'll be a helluva lot easier to fix than hunting down a vibration somewhere else.

I'll report back in the next day or so when I have a chance to swap em around.

I forgot to update this post. Well I swapped the tires around & it made zero difference. So I just kept driving the truck until I sold it about 3 months back.

So maybe the next guy will find the vibration. :crazy :
