I am currently removing a disc brake conversion from my 55 belair, to use on my 66 impala. MANY years ago, there was some tech article in Classic Chevy magazine that outlined how to use 1970 Impala full size discs on a tri-five ... and there was some kind of adapter sleeve to use to match the taper on either the upper or lower ball joint to the knuckle of the 70 Impala. Fast forward about 25 years or so, I now want to use those brakes on my 66 impala as I understand that this is a simple bolt-in swap, and I have everything from the 70 Impala. So, my intent is to grab the stuff that I installed on the 55 (never drove it) and put the original drums back on so it can at least remain a "Roller". Surprised to see when cleaning up the original drum brakes and spindles
that someone before me converted them to tapered roller bearings/hubs. While that is the good news, I will need to get the right grease seal to replace the one that will be ruined when I clean up the hubs, and re-pack the bearings. I think I remember this was an easy conversion (ball bearings to the tapered rollers) but I do not know the origin of the tapered roller HUBS (if that makes sense)... will I need to know the origin of the hubs to get the correct grease seal or am I overthinking this ?

As mentioned, 61-68 hubs direct fit to ‘55 spindle. Did the changeover yrs ago. The inner seal is: National 7934S. Check
for prices, but should be about $10-$15. Hope this helps.
