Three years ago June 2017 Mike Berry of the JLG reached out to me regarding the availability of this rare 59 Utility Sedan. Most folks who know me know I have a special place for the 59 Chevrolet. In spite of all the different makes and models available to the public there is one thing certain,Detroit really put out some of the greatest automobile styles of the day in my opinion,2nd to none! So,anyway, after seeing the pix of this car,I realized it was the same car I wanted to make a play for it like 10 years ago but with relocating my shop it wasn't in the works,so I had to pass on it.When it came up,I had to have it!.Sold my 89 C-4,scraped the rest together, grabbed a pair of plane tickets and my GF and I flew to Florida.Ahh,a test of real love!We rented a car,if you wanna car it a car,a Chevy Spark. This was a "compact car"Not a sub compact car"I'm a car guy and I didn't think they got any smaller. We go to the sellers place and go over the car and man it was hot out!Poor Michele had to stay in the car with the A/C on.{love test again}But before going, though I know the 59 Cheverolets well,I did confer with Verne Frantz regarding the VIN and cowl tag info and determined this is a real 59 Utility Sedan,Body #1221.We agreed on a price and I purchased the car.I knew about this car and the rarity of it so obviously,I didn't steal it.We made a weekend of it and came home and with 2 weeks the car was shipped to my shop.My last post?I had mentioned life gets in the way?It will be 4 years this June I've had this car and still isn't road ready.Time to get it together I think. After losing 4 of my car friends this year with especially Verne Frantz, our JGC founding father,Getting to be about time to get out of the garage a bit.OH The car,OK,This is a rare 1959 Biscayne Utility Sedan,Body #1221.Built in Kansas City 2nd week Dec 1958,so an early car.Spent it's life in Texas,so No Rust! This car was ordered with the following equipment: 348 250 HP,Single WCFB,P/G P/S P/B,Fact A/C, 3:08 Posi,Padded Dash,Two Tone Frost Blue and Harbor Blue. This past summer I was able to purchase a complete 348 250 HP engine date coded for this car from Dave Vignola who knew the guy that owned this car previously and turned me onto it then.I want to put her on the road this season and after going into retirement plan to do a full resto on it.I like Utility Based vehicles.I know not many of these were built to begin with but it would very interesting to find out how many were built with this equipment.P.S.her nickname is Moxy and only person knows why!Very unique car.

Very cool car. Couldn’t have been many made with that equipment. Especially big block with A/C. Not many cars got either much less both back in the day.

That is a very rare car, likely 1 of 1 with those options. Must have been a salesman’s car? How many miles showing?
Ask Jens if he has seen one this model. I’d guess 2-3,000 built.
