Chased a rough idle today and fixed a couple possible issues. I did find the EGR adapter (1406 equipped) just barely loose on one side with the bolt being slightly too long. BTW the EGR has been non functioning and just there to pass visual inspection.
Buttoned it all up and now it runs great. I don't see how it could have caused a rough idle since it was never functioning or am I wrong?

If bolts were different lengths, the longer bolt side was probably not sealed completely. Extra air through the EGR valve will cause idle issues.
