Some reproductive shop manuals are too dark on pages I've found.
I'm thinking about getting one on cd and was wondering if anyone else had and overall, do you feel it's better? My thoughts are I might be able to lighten it before printing. If I'm even able to do that.
Hoping to find a 1951 Fleetline 2 door.

I think the readability of the physical Shop Manual depends on who reproduces it, and how they do it. I got mine from NCA.

I've heard that too. I think NCA was one that was suggested.

I bought one from nca a couple years ago and it was the low quality reproduction.
The good repro has a brown front cover. I will search a bit and see where it came from.

Always good to get an original...photos are much more clear...eBay is a good source for originals. The green Canadian versions are exactly the same as the U.S. versions. Make sure that it is not a reprint...it usually says so on the first page, but the clarity of the photos is a good indication too. Personally, I prefer the real thing. I took an original to a local bindery and had a heavy lamination put on the front and rear cover and had a plastic spiral binding put on it.

Going for original might be my best option. Still gotta find a car though too. Lol

For me, it's nice to be able to pull it down off the shelf and go through it without finding a drive to put a CD in.

Me too. I read mine from cover to cover many years ago, when I first got it. It took a few months.
I have the white-cover reprint from NCA.
Except for grease stains, it's very readable.

I have a reprint that is pretty good for my 1948. Here is a great site that Keith Hardy copied a lot of our manuals. You can print pages from it.

I saw a shop manual on CD on ebay. Don't know about the quality.

RAM_51 I really like the end result on the manual. Great idea.
The closest I came to an idea like yours was for a Richmond 6 speed. Was in our road course 67 Camaro and in and out a number of times.
I got a good picture of the drivers side. Took it to an office supply place, blew it up to trans size and had it laminated. Think cost was $22. A week later no more QQQs was the twist up or down on that rod?
