Hello,
For my 54 Bel Air, 4 doors, I would be very grateful if any of you could tell me what is the GM original finish of the inside part of the glove compartment door? Is it chrome as the outside? If it is painted, what color and what finish (matte, satin or gloss)?

I would also like to know the paint color of the both hinge section that you see.

The terrible part, I do not have the original modified truss head machine screws that attach the door to the hinges. Any suggestions where to get new ones?

I would appreciate some pictures of your glove compartments just for reference.

Greetings and thanks in advance.

This is a photo of a very original 210. I have a set of about 40 - 50 photos. This might help you with the color of the hinges. I'm sure they were all painted the same regardless of 150, 210 or Belair. I also did a quick look at 1953-54 the glove box doors on eBay. It seems that most of them are painted a flat shade of gray on the reverse side.

Thanks RAM_51 for the picture. In reference to the hinges color, the post is called "1954 Bel Air Glove Compartment", so the hinges I wanted to refer to are those of the glove compartment door. If you have some pictures that can help me, I will appreciate it.
I did the same search on eBay and in my picture database and I got the same result, but I wanted to know if anyone knows or has a photograph with the factory original color.

Sorry...sometimes folks will combine questions regardless of the the title of the post is. I can say this...the amount of doors on your car would not have had any bearing on the color of the inside of the glove box or the color of the hinges. ALL 1954 Chevrolets, regardless, would have been exactly the same. Good luck in your search for an answer.

Mine are gray in color, as in haze gray like US Navy ships.

Attached is a picture of my '54 Bel Air 4DR glove box door. Although the hinges are body color, I don't know if they would have been originally. I don't have the complete history of my car - I believe it was repainted in the '90s. I suspect the finish on the inside of the door may be original, just based on the "look and feel" of it. Hope this helps!

I don't want to hijack the thread but this picture got me thinking. I believe the "Del Ray" interior trim package ( what I believe is shown) was first introduced in '54 and included dimpled stainless panels at the bottom of the doors. Has anyone ever seen these available on the secondary market? I have a pair but now that I think about it, in all the years of collecting parts for my project, I've never seen any anywhere.

I think what you're referring to is the 1954 Two Ten Club Coupe interior. I haven't seen it referred to as the Del Ray option. This sort of large stitched square pattern interior design appeared again in 1955 on the 210 Delray Club Coupe [Style 55-1011A] which outwardly looked exactly like the 210 2-Door Sedan [Style 55-1011]. You had to pay $60 more to get the Delray Club Coupe, but the difference was a little more fancy interior. Maybe that's what you meant by the Del Ray option. A couple of famous photos of Dean and his '55 Delray Club Coupe; one colorized. I don't think the '55s had the metal scuff plates at the bottom of the door that the '54s did. Sorry for being so long winded.

That is correct; a 1955 Delray Club Coupe. He had this car while filming the movie GIANT.

Thanks RAM_51 for the info. I'm still trying to figure out how I want to do the interior on my '53. It's not a restoration so I have the luxury of picking and choosing my favorites between '53 & '54. I have this interior trim, but don't necessarily care for the stitched rectangles.
