I'm rebuilding my '54 Corvette. What are the advantages, if any, to having a rear sway bar or a larger one? Car will be an on and off daily driver. Thanks, Ed

Ed I know you asked about a R bar but how bad is the roll now? If you need a big reduction I would go to a bigger bar in F first. If bottoming out in F and too much roll. Stiffer, shorter F springs with your currant bar. Still too much roll go to a bigger F bar. Last add a rear bar.
Usually we go with the thought the F handles 90% and the R 5-10% so the rear is part of our fine tuning.
Don't go too heavy of a rate on springs as stock one's are a little firm on riders now.
Check those companys that help fund this site for their thoughts.

The 53-59 Corvettes had the SAME standard front sway bar.
If the Heavy Duty suspension option was ordered for 57-59 Corvettes, a heavier sway bar was part of the pkg.
In 1960-62, ALLLLLLLLL Corvettes (REGARDLESS of std or HD susp) got the heavier front sway bar and a rear sway bar was added.
When we did the body off rebuild (NOT correct restoration) to the 56, I added all the upgrades which were on the 60-62 models, including heavier front sway bar, rear sway bar and factory traction bars (they were called radius rods). The traction bars were added in 59. Thus, to install factory traction bars on a 53-58 Corvette will also require a 59-62 axle housing.
To install both the traction bars and rear sway bar required welding some additional brackets to the frame, as seen below. I've also added Traction Master traction bars below the leaf springs.
