Do any of you know if the screw-on rear drip rail above the lift gate is reproduced and for sale by anybody?

After looking at a bunch of Nomad pictures, I didn't find any that had the drip rail I am questioning. Even my other "parts" Nomad doesn't have it (and never did).
Is this a rare part or are people just removing them because they are damaged and not reproduced?

As far as I know the only drip rail at the rear is the one that is part of the lift gate. The lift gate is chrome and I believe the drip rail got painted body color. These gates are notorious for leaking, so maybe someone fabricated something to try to divert the water before it got to the lift gate opening. What was the drip rail screwed to?

Interesting. That is not factory. It appears to be something a previous owner made or hade made to deal with the typical rear gate leaks due tp seal failure. Is the gate upper horizontal rail gutter altered/removed? Post some pics if it is. Do you have any pics with the gate installed?

I haven't had the lift gate on the car yet but it does have an unmodified drip rail. I did hold it up to the body and can see that it will clear the roof mounted drip rail.
It appears to be a stamped steel product professionally created and not somebody's one off creation.
I sort of like it since it would help the leak problems and that it might be some rare accessory. I'm just not sure it worth repairing the minor rust issues (it seems like I have replaced/repaired 75% of the sheet metal on the car already).

I guess you have not seen the kind of wonders talented sheet metal crafters can make even by hand. Not an accessory from GM, otherwise there would be considerably more that your single example.
Note that it will hold water since there is no apparent drain(s). Are there drains that are not obvious in the photos?

No drains. I'll probably just remove it.

Yes. There was a factory service part attached to the liftgate opposite the location as the home made one in your photo. The so called "supplemental weatherstrip". It improves sealing, but can get squished out of position.
There was a rail whos basic function was to support the weatherstrip so it would be in the right place to be effective.
Pretty much a horizontal weatherstrip retainer very similar to the vertical weatherstrip retainers.
Mike Bakotich probably sells them, or at least can point you to where to get one. Mike is all about liftgates! Madmooks.
Bottom line, you can minimize leaking but in a downpour it might still leak.
