I already have this question in the 1917 - '59 trucks but no answers. The basic question is, will the crossmember rear motor mount on the 6 cylinder '54 pickup match the first v-8 truck bell housing.. It looks like it should, I have the bell housing form about a 1957 truck it's a 3733373 and was told their the same mount wise but I don't want to be trying to fit it if it's wrong. Someone must know

“””match the first v-8 truck bell housing..””” I am not sure what the question is but I have put SBC’s in the AD trucks ( nothing newer than a 327) . Difference being I always used power glides behind them . Are wanting to use an AD 6 bell housing with a SBC ? 54 ..what body ?

What I have is a 1954 3600 long bed, I'll see if I can put a photo in. The bell housing bolts to the crossmember on the original straight 6 that came in the truck. When I started looking into swapping the engine I saw a lot of talk about how you have to cut out the crossmember with the bell housing motor mounts. Then somewhere I saw that the early v8 pickups (55, 56, 57,) used a bell with mounts that would sit on the crossmember in my truck without any modification~
