Is the bracket that the hood latch and top grill is attached to the same on both the 1953 and 1954 Chevy car.8!897’u

Are you referring to part "O" in the image? If so, same part number for either year. 3701630 Part "N" however has different part numbers: 1953 = 3701635, 1954 = 3707844.

Is there a diagram or something that shows the back side of the grille? Wondering if the center tooth has a bracket on the back side of the center bar like the two outer teeth do.

I did a little research as the scan I posted initially from the 1955 Chevrolet Dial-A-Part Collision Estimator did not answer that question. First I had to obtain the group number for the bracket[s] (or, as Chevrolet calls them, retainers) in question. The illustration below shows them...but it only provided the part number and only showed two. I had to go to another publication to get the Group Number. With that number obtained from the 1953 Ready Reference manual, I was able to look it up in the Master Parts Catalog. For 1953, The Master Parts Catalog show that 2 are required. So from that, I would assume there is not one at the center vertical moulding. Thanks for keeping my brain sharp working the manuals.
