im trying to replace the wires--- anyone know how to get the connector apart where the wires come together under the dash---looks like it should just pull apart but wont---is it just hard to get apart or is there a method to use i dont want to break the connector

It just pulls apart, but if any of the terminals had a bad connection, it could have caused the terminal to heat up and melt the connector together. Try gripping both connectors with pliers and wiggling them and see if that breaks them loose.
FYI: The male terminals are held in the plastic connector by the tip on one side. Squeeze the terminal together, so you can pull the wire out of the connector.
