I am working my way through the hiring process as a postal carrier. I'm talking to hiring person and he says that I have to wear the postal uniform. I say sure. He says alot new younger hires don't want to wear the uniform. I ask why is that ? He says "they don't like the way the uniforms look" I'm like, wearing the uniform is part of the job. I don't understand some of these younger workers some kind of "me first" or rules don't apply to them ? A different generation I suppose.

So you have to wear the uniform but the entitlement generation is exempt?

Injection is nice but I'd rather be blown.

I never understood why the post office tolerated them not wearing their uniforms or wearing them correctly. Saw the beginnings of it almost 30 years ago with them mixing the uniform with personal clothing. They applied for the job, the uniform is part of the job so they should have been made to wear it according to regulations. If they don’t want to do that, they can get a different job. A restyled uniform may be in order. They’ve been the same for ages. That might help with people not objecting to wearing them. But the way people are today and what they allowed to get away with, I’d doubt it. Too many entitled people these days.

I don't think its the uniform that is the issue for the younger generation.

the younger generation is use to having everything handed to them.

I started working at age 7. lawn related. I had to buy my vehicles None were given to me growing up.

parents stopped being parents and try to be their kids best friend instead. Because they didn't like it when their parents held them responsible for breaking the rules by beating them (spanking, Soap in mouth for swearing.)

Or try to give their kids everything because they themselves had to go without. rather than teaching kids to EARN their way through life.

I could understand a better personal winter coat that is warmer than uniform. JUST so long as you get patches for it to show you worked for postal.

when asking Questions its related to van I own: 1987 GMC 3/4 ton G2500 vandura, V6, No AC, standard length. 3speed trans(no overdrive).

I don’t think it’s necessarily the design of the uniform either. I believe it is the “I’ll do whatever I want” generation that we have today. All of the kids who got participation trophies as kids are now grown up and feel like they don’t have to earn anything.

The covid up here is out of control, hospital full a big mess. The State of MN says that young peole are ignoring the masks. social distance ..etc The health officials say these young people are spreading the covid and they dont seem to care about other people that are harmed because of their recklessness. A lady at work says these entitlement types will never do well at working or marriage..etc because there is no give n take with other people It's all about them
