RE: oil cups, which are on the front end of a stock generator.
so the true name is oil hole cover. they have a spring loaded top/cap. usually used on the front of a stock generator. on trucks or heavy duty generators they were used front & rear. also on the distributor.
NAPA and True-Value does not have them. McMaster-Carr has them for $7.00 each [ouch!]
any idea where I can actually buy them?

There is also a cup on the rear of the generator. It oils the felt wick for the rear bushing or bearing if it has power steering.

I would suggest a generator / starter rebuilder. They should have a good selection. I bought a bag of them at a swap meet years ago, and there were about 8 different sizes in the bag

Any good hardware store, industrial supply, They were also called McCoy oiler caps decades ago.
True story behind McCoy, he was an African American slave that gained his freedom and designed those spring loaded cap oiler's, for the drive wheel linkages on steam locomotives.
"Oiler tenders" used to get out of the locomotives when they stopped for whatever reason, take an oil can with long tube, and lube up all the linkage joints, and then went on to the next stop, repeated the process.
McCoy's oiler cups made it a lot easier to hold oils for lubrication, extending service intervals between fills, and lessening servicing times for the tenders.
After a bit of time, there were so many clones of his caps, when salesmen came around and showed people their oiler caps for sale, the main question was "Are They The Real McCoy?:
