This is probably old news, but since I have been trying to get turn signals to flash with LED bulbs, maybe some new info is out there. I have tried three different, so called LED turn signal flashers, with varied results. My setup has LED bulbs that fit in the 1157 socket in the rear and what were bus amber side marker lights in the front. I learned all about low draw with LED lights which cause regular flashers to not flash. So I bought the correct??? unit and it worked for a while then shorted or did something to blow the fuse. New fuse did nothing so I bought another flasher. No luck, no flash. Then I was told that 4 LED lights need the flasher with the extra ground wire, so I got one but still no good. To be certain the system was ok, I put the 1157 bulbs back in the rear and all was fine again. WTF is happening? First flasher worked a while and then nothing. Anyone been through this?

You need to install a relay that is activated by pushing the brake pedal and then the relay will send the power to the LED lights.

Yea ! I returned mine and purchased the brightest
regular bulbs I could buy and installed them.
Very happy with the results ....

havent done much testing but you may need more load. maybe add an 1156 to test.

You need to install a relay that is activated by pushing the brake pedal and then the relay will send the power to the LED lights.
I would be interested to know how that’s going to make the turn signals work?I don’t know a lot about the conversion to LED lights,but if what you are saying is true with the installation of a relay then you would have to step on the brake pedal every time you put the turn signals on.

Maybe the relay does something to the flasher.

A relay is a coil that controls separate circuit contacts, so yes a relay provides resistance needed for old style flashers.
It’s a better fix than the ridiculous use of resistors to make LED
Circuits work w/ original flashers.
I’d be concerned the relay may not be stout enough to cause the flasher to trip as the LED resistors are several watts in order to work. I have all turn/brake, parking and additional side marker running LEDs and use the flasher Superbright recommends for a 58 Chevy, no relay.

I encountered the same problems, even tried the special flasher which did not work.
I chose to put red LEDs in the tail / brake lights and used the standard incandescent bulbs in the front parking light / turn signals. I used the original type flasher can. Apparently the incandescent bulbs draw enough to activate the flasher properly. I don't notice any slowness in the turn signal interval.
