Very sad news. Hope they can get control of this mess.

Certainly unfortunate and sounds as if some one really dropped the ball. However many nursing homes have had similar results due to age and infirmity of the residents.

This is very sad to hear. All the RN staff I have known try very hard to protect residents. Getting the rest of the staff to follow guidelines is the difficult part. We have training and signs and more training But I still see people walking around without masks. are they washing their hands are they being careful ? someone told me that staff were coming to work when they knew the had been around someone with Covid like conditions. They said they couldnt afford to lose the 14 day off work isolation time. For whatever reason, they were never told the nursing home had to pay them for days missed due to isolation. everyone is tested now, every week. If you miss a test you do not work. But all this does not help those Veterans and their families ...

I think there was some escape-goat going on here.

For one their budget kept getting cut by civilian leaders. thus hard decisions had to be made on where to apply those cuts. but problem was there was NO fat to be cut off in the first place. And this is the result of that.

RN's etc can't do their job if they are not given the tools to do it. And this is all the way up to the person who resigned.

I PUT THIS DISASTER at the feet of the civilian leadership of the state and federal level past and present.

It was not one person it was many some of the ones responsible for this are likely not in leadership roles any more.

This is a symptom of on going long term neglect and budget cutting.
