Not many have a first Series 4dr i would wager. to those who do, have you restored it? Have you noticed any oddities that seperate it from later models?

What does "first gen" mean? Are you referring to a 56 4dr HT? I'm going to help a friend get one running tomorrow.

One of our members has a very nice 56 4 door hardtop, that was in an accident, and rebuilt. Yellow and black as I remember, and his handle/name escapes me at the moment.

Hello;
Im the proud owner of a 57' 4 door hardtop! Love it!
So Far, Have done a "ton" of mods to this one. But first I drove it for years and years in Florida, then I had the body (rust) repaired/replaced, including the whole roof!!
Then a complete morfing of the interior to all bucket seats with a waterfall console front to back!
So.o.o.o what is it you want too know?

Hi acardon A 56 would be interesting. Hope you enjoy the challenge of smoothing out a "new" one! There is a lot of interesting innovations that were recorded used on the 57 model.I'm referring to the "Service Bulletins."

"first gen" is something i made up to describe what probably should have been tagged as "first iteration," oops! "1st Series" is what I meant-sorry. I have read in many places that there were changes made to the car at a number of different points as the year progressed.

A good example of one is the rear tail light housings in the area of the raised center that almost always gets noticed.
Another was when i was buffing out the dog leg piece of SS that connects a couple of other stainless pieces just behind the rear door. There is an escutcheon pin of a sort that goes through the body and uses a small bolt hold it to the body so it doesn't stick out. At the dog leg end it is welded onto the SS piece. As the year progressed the factory added a second pin a professional (you know the type - they argue the fine points with the Corvette guys) told me about it. Maybe it was made up or just done on hardtops, idk.

There are others that I have had the pleasure to notice like the steering wheel construction,or rather the core shift, easily detected if you look at enough of them and know the car they came from.
