I think the clip on my clutch fork that goes on the bell housing pivot ball is damaged or worn as the fork can be moved around quite a bit and at an angle it should not go to. My question is can I replace the clutch fork without removing the transmission. This is on a small block. Appreciate any input. Thanks

Depending on the fork and bellhousing involved it may be possible. But don't waist you time. Pull the Transmission. Clean and inspect the fork, fork pivot, release bearing, Pilot bearing in crank, input shaft, transmission nose on which the bearing slides. Replace the worn parts and lubricate during reassembly. Then you know it will be good to go for many, many miles.

Thanks 55. What you suggested sounds reasonable. I will pull the tranny and see what the problem is. Thanks.

The fork spring can be replaced, at least it used to be serviced by GM. I bought them in years past. Yes, you'll have to pull it apart anyway.

I've seen them on eBay.
