A friend has a '95 with brake light problems. For Second Gen, do both middle and top lights turn on for braking? What about for blinking? I think they both turn on. I want to confirm before to going to check it out. I know the two middle bulbs have been replaced. Both were burned. I'm guessing a bad ground for both to burn up.
All top and middle four bulbs are 3057 according to parts stores.

I am not sure if 95 is the same as 88, but I think so. Top tail light, middle tail-stop-turn, bottom backup. If the contacts are burned, that section is replaceable without replacing the whole tail light.

64SS409,
You are correct. I pulled out my '96 service manuals for wiring diagrams. The top and middle bulbs are stop and turn. If I remember correctly, my friend had single element bulbs on top. Both top and middle need to be dual elements. I hope replacing all four bulbs will fix his brake light problem. If not, I'll have to probe into the multifunction switch. The brake switch works. It was replaced. The old one worked because the third light has power. The two middle bulbs were burned out previously. The ground is really bad or something else happened to burn both middle bulbs. I may have to pull the short harnesses and probe them too. The hazard switch is new too.

After a few hours of probing, a new multifunction switch will be ordered. The rear wiring is okay. Using my Power Probe IV, I was able to activate all turn signals and brake lights. Probing yellow and brown wires, different bulb elements turned on both sides. So rear grounds are good too. I pulled it part to reach the multifunction switch. Probing wires I was able to get power to the rear lights. I'm still looking at multifunction wiring diagrams. I need to probe the incoming power. All the fuses are good. I'm not so sure about one flasher though. One had power and the other didn't. According to the wiring diagram, both flashers should have power on on at least one side. I'll look through the diagrams in more detail later.
