Hi all. I am getting ready to put an LS3 in my 1958 Apache using a stock aluminum radiator. I am hoping someone has already done this to give me direction on what radiator hoses to use. Thanks.

If no one has any suggestions I’ll tell you what I did changing my El Camino to TPI and serpentine belt. I measured the water pump, thermostat housing, and radiator inlet/outlet diameters and wrote them down. Then I took coat hangers and bent them to the shape I needed and went to my local parts store and searched for hoses that fit the bill. It took me about an hour to come up with two hoses. One had to be shortened a bit, but worked fine.

I did the same procedure on my LS1-Nomad. Same as Wagonman100 describes. If you walk into an auto parts store with that wire mockup and a tape measure, they will typically let you browse thru all of the hoses hanging up. You'll more than likely find one that will work. Sometimes they need to be shortened to work for your application.

I did what WagonCrazy suggests when I built my sbc powered '32 Ford roadster. A local OReilly welcomed to look on their shelves at all the radiator hoses they stock and I found 2 that could be shortened for a perfect fit.
I recently read in The Tappet Brothers (Click & Clack) syndicated column that radiator hoses made these days are incredibly durable and are pretty much lifetime products. They advise pinching them occasionally to verify that the rubber is still flexible. Maybe that durability is required to tolerate the high temperatures modern cars run at for emission reasons.
