Im overheat and cant find a water pump any where — i have a 1940 master deluxe and have searched hi and low for a water pump and no luck —- ive heard some of the 235 water pumps will fit as some say no and some say yes —- if it is what year 235 and what part number — because i cant find a waterpump is why im thinking of doing a engine swap to a 235 —— but my 216 runs perfect aside the over heating

What have you done to isolate the water pump as the root cause of the over heating. There is nothing there to fail other than a bearing or possibly a seal. Go to the manual and follow the guide lines to determine the cause of heating. When I had a pump failure I just went to a small local parts house and they had the water pump on the shelf.

It has been a few years ago but I bought a water pump for my 41 Chev 216 ci motor from Advance Auto Parts . I don't remember what I paid but it was a
not over $50 or $60. Is it leaking coolant or making noise? It might be gasket failure or perhaps it has worked its way loose. Check Advance online for a pump. You might have to tell them its a 1942......Phil

According to the Master Parts book, 39 and 40 are the same water pump assembly. Interesting that the repair kits are the same for 37-53 but the gaskets are different after 40. Looks like a difference may be in housing after 40 but not in the impeller??
