Sorry for the basic question but I’m new to 60s cars. My ignition does not lock, rotates and starts without the key. Is this ignition switch and lock assembly repairable or do I have to replace the entire ignition including tumbler?
Thank you
Michael
PS
With two keys, which keys are suppose to work on what? Ignition, trunk, doors, glove box.

I had the exact same problem on my 1960 El camino I just replaced the ignition barrel and it solved the problem of not needing a key to start it. (It is also called the Ignition lock cylinder)
I bought the ignition barrel from Rock Auto the only problem is it is a little sticky I am hoping it wears in also it comes with a different key to your door locks. All the main parts suppliers sell complete lock sets so that one key operates everything for me i dont care so much.

You never have to apologize for a question here on CT, period, because that’s what this forum is all about. Questions have been the bulk of my posting here and without the help that I have received in answering my questions from guys here on CT I probably wouldn’t have my ’60 completed. As far as the keys go this is my situation. My keys are original, one fits the ignition, doors and trunk and the other one fits the glove box. Something else, it would be great to see the car that the questions concern and by becoming a supporting member for a very small fee we can enjoy your project along with you.
