Gentlemen, I have a question for those who may have swapped out their power glide for a 200-4r or 700-r4 transmission.

I made the swap from to a 200-4r. I modified the one end of a speedo cable made for a 1987 Monte Carlo 200-4r by exchanging the one end of the cable that screws to the back of the speedometer on the dash of my '60 Impala.

The speedometer worked for about a half mile then quit. The speedometer gear is the original gear to the 200-4r....I can't find anything loose.

Has anyone else experienced this with their swap? Can you advise as to what may be wrong? I am unfamiliar with these transmission.

Thanks
Roger.

Roger.

Sorry I can't help you with your problem but it looks as if you have the '60 back on the road. Other than this problem how is it doing? How about some pictures Lamar

Hi Lamar.
Thanks for the response. The car is fine, I haven't been driving it lately a lot of road construction going on in the area. Took it out for a couple of test runs last summer but that's it.

My only problem is the speedometer, right now. Took the cable off yesterday and found the problem...will need new cable and housing.

I wish I could show you some pictures of the car, but I've lost most of them. The "chips" I had the pictures on have failed (don't work anymore) for some reason. I was able to salvage some of the restoration pics but not many.

I don't remember if I ever posted any pics of the car since I finished it...but I can and will take some and post here on a later date.

Roger.

As I mentioned above, I'm not sure if I ever posted any pictures since I finished the car.
