Has anyone seen any discussion of what the aero duct did when used and what the effect of eliminating them will be? I'm thinking they want to reduce the closing rate when there's a gap in the draft, but what are the negative consequences?

I'd think reducing the "hole" a car makes or reducing the vacuum it creates that sucks another car up behind it will reduce the ability to pass. Likely result in a more boring race.

This. ^^^^
Interesting read from Autoweek.
https://www.autoweek.com/racing/nascar/a328738 35/i...
The use of "slip tape" on the rear bumpers sounds to be counter productive to me so far as bump drafting and spinning the lead car. It would seem to me by allowing the pusher car's bumper to easily slide along the lead car's bumper it would make it easier to get too far to one side and spin the car in front. We know what happens when a pusher gets too far to the right or left corners of the lead car.

Apparently some but not all teams were using the slip tape. So there is some experience with it.

Also some teams were making mods to the window net mounts for aero. That's been eliminated.

Like the slip tape, a layman without direct knowledge can argue on the aero duct elimination. That takes away from downforce, making it easier to wreck or become airborne. But it also slows the car a bit. Not saying eliminating the aero ducts is the wrong thing to do, just pointing out the argument.

Nascar is probably pleased with the changes, as it was a pretty good race with no wild incidents, looked to be slower closing rates, and the ability to pass.

They still wreck on the last lap at Talladega and Daytona though.

All 3 makes had their good moments too but Blaney was strong early and late when it counted.

The Noose situation didn't really bother me, but the Flag ban, the Kneeling allowance and the new association with a Liberal group sure did finish me off for good.

I'm out as well.

NASCAR seem to be full of BS. A video from the fall show the stall in question and the one beside it with ropes and loop that sure look exactly the same. Then Nascar releases a picture of a noose and says it's the only one found, but was there since the fall. Those new garages opened in the fall. My guess is that whoever installed the doors would have also put the pull down ropes on them all. Maybe something like a heaving line or allbright knot was used on the rope ends to make a loop to pull on.

I agree and they'll need all the luck in the world to fill the stands with those same Libs.

I'm a member of many different sites and Nascar is so done, it's unbelievable.
