hi everyone

i was wondering if the fenders on a 3600 or 6400 are wider than the 3100. obviously the wheel opening is different but i hope to rework large fenders into 1/2 ton fenders. don't care if they're identical they just need to look right/good with 1/2 ton size wheels

if they ARE wider, so are the running boards?

thanks

Remember the front of the large truck front fenders are shaped a bit differently than the 1/2 ton front fenders as well as over the wheels.

Yes, for sure. But, what I wonder is, can a determined person make good looking at fenders out of the large truck models? It is likely I am going to use a three-quarter ton modern chassis And the tallest, skinniest tires I can find

Like I said, I have seen the big truck fenders used on street rod type trucks and they looked fine. The tall skinny tires help a great deal. To be honest, I was considering buying a truck with the large truck fenders on it and I didn

Yea i guess i'll try it. I found 235/80/r17. Guessing thats as tall and skinny as I'll get without going to an actual truck tire. Not sure if this thing will be 1500/2500 chassis or trailblazer. Not sure if it will be (with either) a front clip on a straight frame I make from 3x6 or whatever is similar to the front clip, or if I'll use the whole frame and and make cab mounts that are tall to make up the difference. First stu is obviously the body work =)

I did some research on this in the past and what I was able to learn is that the cab is the same, but the fenders are different. I can't remember if the hood is different or not, but suspect it is the same. You can use a large truck cab and pair it with 3100 fenders.

Wayne over at Code504 has a fairly extensive knowledge about the Art Deco era trucks.

This shows how the larger truck fenders are formed in the front of a 46.

Looking at it, you would swear that the runningboards are wider, the hood is longer
