Truck is a 2007 6.0lt 3500 GMC HD (the new body style of 07)

Looking in the owners manual there is nothing on the fuel filter.
Looking under the truck. (As far as I can see with jacking the truck up) i dont see any filter on the frame.
Anyone know if they had filters in side of the tanks?

Reason I'm asking. Is I've been chasing a check engine light since 2016. Constantly replacing the purge valve. Then the dealership looked a little further and replaced the canister and sensor. And the light came back on. Code P0442.
This last week. They pulled the tank. Found the fuel pump was not sitting proper. Someone tightened it down with the notches misaligned. Resulting in a cracked housing. (Took 4 years to find that, actually took this dealership 4months, as i gave up on the other two shops o was taking it to).

I have a record book of everything ever done to that truck. But no mention of the pump ever being pulled
Closest I have is back in 2012 another dealership changed the fuel filter.

RockAuto doesn’t list a filter as being available. It probably just has the strainer on the pump assembly. A lot of vehicles are like that starting in the late 90s.

Starting in 2007, GM stopped putting a replaceable fuel filter in gasoline powered trucks. My 2009 Buick Lucerne does not have one either.

The next time you go to the dealership take your receipt and ask them to show you the fuel filter.

MAybe they changed the invisible one...
I am sure there is something logical lol.
No idea why they did away with fuel filters.
No filters after 05?? Somewhere around there. Likely cost saving measures

The fuel filter is INSIDE the fuel module which is inside the fuel tank. That started in 2004 (gas models). You have to change the complete fuel module. The good news is this filter design lasts longer because it only filters the fuel you burn in the engine. The older style frame mounted filters were always filtering fuel that circulated between the tank and the engine.
