Had a generator light coming on, so decided to repace it with a new chrome one . Now the light is gone, the battery charges, but the car looses all electricity and it could be after 30 minutes of 45 minutes, it has a mind of it own. I did add an extra ground wire, so that is not the problem, I replaced the new generator, so that is not the problem. Wires are all tight and look good. Is there anything in the steering column that could make this happen ? 307 motor

Is it a generator or alternator? If alternator, is it 1 wire or 3 wire?
Does it crank up after it dies? Does the horn work after it dies?
Steering column wiring is not involved, unless you have a aftermarket column with key on column.

Nothing electrical works when it shuts down, so I move it to neutral and usually that is enough that the engine restarts itself. But not always .Its an alternator 110a. And its stock steering and ignition switch.

3 Speed? Restarts itself in neutral?

Sounds like a loose connection on the black wire between the starter battery terminal and the ignition switch. Check the plug on the back of the switcy for melted plastic.

You got a ghost in there. How's the checking of the wires?
