Anybody have a current source for the rm12r batteries that power the eb9a transmitter? I see that you can use a 1.5 AA slightly discharged version but not as accurate. I would like to keep it all OE so mods are out. Thanks in advance!!

Those batteries are no longer manufactured.

I believe those were mercury batteries and not made in long long time. No replacements out there either that I know of. Everyone seem to send the tach and boxes out for upgrade.

As stated here the original batteries that were 1.35 volt have not been made for at least 15 years.

If you use 1.5 volt batteries your tach will not be accurate. I have had discussions with Ron at Williamson’s about use of 1.5 volt batteries.

The by far best thing is to convert the sender and tach head to operate without batteries. I have had converted original tach’s on my 62’s for over 12/15 years.

As to your comment about originality the conversion to run without batteries is made inside the sender. “You cannot see the conversion on either unit”.
In fact the conversion notes on the sender state that you do not open the sender or the warranty is voided. The conversions are guaranteed for life. I had a problem with a friends converted tach, sent in fixed at zero cost, other than shipping one way to Williamson’s.

Ditto on Williamsons. My buddy had his '49 Studebaker truck gauges done there. Came back really nice, and accurate too.
