Hey everyone,

My dad is looking at this car. Guy says no title or vin number. Driver/passenger door is stuck. Appears to be 3/8 original fuel line. Looks rough to us but really need some opinions before even considering a deal. Non posi rear end.

I don’t own the car now but asked permission for photos. Car was from Texas. Would this car be worth it? Thanks in advance.

Without a VIN, and all the items that you are going to need to complete this into a driving car, it is going to be time consuming and expensive. Only if the car is at a give away price would I consider it, and then only as a body part donor to another car. Without any idea as to who the true owner is, you are taking a chance. I have heard of people buying a car without a title, doing a lot of work to it, only to loose it when they can't prove ownership, and someone else has better paperwork of ownership. In short, the original owner stops buy to pick up his car that was stolen more years ago than anyone can remember, but he still has the title to the car. You just built him a beautiful car!

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

Without a VIN it’s nothing but a parts car.
Needs trunk floor, needs a convertible top rack, needs a pinch weld for snap ring from another convertible,
Missing $ 3500 + buckets Seats, convertible back seat, convertible rear arm rests, missing convertible snap ring ($ 1000 just for these), convertible only reveal moldings, missing convertible interior panels( metal rails)

The missing list and repair list never ends.

Thanks junky.

To your point, my dad got his previous 1964 ss convertible back years ago when the guy came for the title. Thanks for your opinion.

Why is convertible only rear frame sitting on coil springs when there are rear tires...., something is wrong.

No SS console - new consoles are close to $600.
No convertible only door glass and no convertible only rear 1/4 glass frame no convertible only vent glass frames and no rear 1/4 glass convertible only tracks and controls and convertible only pivots for rear 1/4 glass.

Without title or VIN that's sketchy. I'd be interested in it just for the parts on there. But going off the pictures you're going to need a lot of stuff to restore it and a lot of the important/expensive stuff is missing on it.

Thanks Paul.

I agree 100%. It’s something I just had to verify first with you. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, i thought it looked good at first. The convertible rocker is cut at the curve on both sides. Thanks for your opinion.

The car did have quarter windows. I saw the doors had remains of brackets. The guy had it sitting on the springs because he couldn’t install them on the rear trailing arms. It’s got no rear shocks either.

The body also had incorrect bushing since the frame was taken off. They put mismatch sizes back on.

The plan was to use this donor car. We have the convertible back seat and piston covers only.

none of the 64 Hardtop door glass/frames, rear 1/4 glass/frames or vent assemblies outside pot metal frames will work on the convertible.

it appears that it would better off restoring the 64 SS Hardtop

Aren't there hidden VIN numbers on these cars? In my '53 convertible there is a hidden body serial number stamped on the frame (They didn't have VIN numbers, as such, then). If I wanted this '64, I'd find the hidden VIN, take the number to the cops and ask them to run it for stolen. If there were no hits, I'd negotiate a lower price anyway, and get a notarized bill of sale from the owner. They ain't making these old babies anymore, and if you really want it, GO FOR IT.

1953 210 Convertible, 261 with dual Carter YF 966S carbs, P.S., Remote Bendix P.B. Booster... shade-tree restoration about done.

This convertible in my estimation is too far gone. It would be an economic disaster to try and save it.

Without a VIN it's a parts car. You could extract the convertible "tub" and windshield frame for swapping into the hardtop you have. Or you could sell the tub and windshield frame since there is a market for such conversion parts among those who aren't purists. Especially down in your southwest, SoCal, Texas region of the country.
