Car has always started, and never any ignition problems.I removed the dash panel and instrument cluster, which involved removing the ign.switch.So,while dash panel is still out,I plugged the ign.switch back in so I could move the car.It cranks fine but no ign.Have current at the coil but when cranking that current is gone.So with key on I jumped between ign.and solenoid terminal and it started.Took switch out to check continuity between battery terminal and ign.terminal with key in run position AND start position and there IS continuity. But when plugged in there's nothing going to coil when in start position, but in run there is.BTW,dist. is an HEI.Maybe coincidentially time for a new switch?

Check the ignition terminal inside the plastic plug. A single terminal can be loose and not make contact and the other terminals will hold it on the switch.

I'm not sure where you have tested for voltage, but try testing right on the switch connector with it plugged in and turned to start.

The switch is definitely bad if the voltage right at the switch terminal is not present. If voltage is present, then it's likely the wiring.
